*CREATE NO ROOM TO BE CONDEMNED*
Most choristers are discouraged in performing their duties due
to the manner at which they sometimes confronted on issues by their leaders. It
is advised that choir leaders adopt approaches which will not end up
discouraging their members. However, choristers have a great role to play to
avoid a lot of these soo-called ‘condemnations’ that turn to discourage them.
It is true, choristers have their personal plans and
schedules and this, sometimes make it difficult for them to participate in
choir activities. It is very right to inform your choir leaders of your absence
to such ‘clashy-activities’.
If you belong to other organizations or your other duties in
the church may not permit you to robe for church services, it is very right to
inform your choir leaders of your absence; but this should not stop you from
attending a practice preceding that Sunday – choir practices are not only for
Sunday services.
If your job may/does not allow you to attend practice early
as you wish, it is very right to inform your choir leaders about your
situation. You should not just take advantage of it and always be absent. If
you can even attend the last 30 minutes of practice and put yourself in the
task of the day, it will really help you.
There are a lot of possible situations where choristers can
really pre-communicate with their leaders to avoid being questioned in a manner
which may turn to discourage them from performing their duties.
