It is never wrong for choristers to reach the rehearsal/practice grounds before the rehearsal/practice begins.
You need to rest very well before practice begins; because you are going to use more energy for singing.
Even if you have to organize the practice venue, you must try and do it early enough to get some rest before the business commences.
Choir masters, Directors, Organists, and all technical persons need this rest as well.
You may decide to rest at home before attending practice; it isn't bad, but make sure practice doesn't begin immediately when you arrive or before you arrive.
